Because I have such bad taste in clothes, I decided to take advantage of the fact that most of my friends are girls and go out shopping for new clothes. Actually, I think Katie decided that we had to go shopping, but either way I knew it had to be done. After sitting around 2dogs being bored, we went over to mervyns to pick out some new clothes for yours truely. I learned some new facts about myself. I lost like 6-8 inches off of my waste-line and I have worse taste in clothes than I once thought.
So Katie picked out jeans and shirts for me to try on and of course I had to get her approval. At first I was like whatever and trusted her judgement, but after wearing them, the more I liked them. So I think I got either 2 or 3 pairs of jeans and a shirt. I then went to The Sub and picked up a shirt of Travis Bickle (DeNiro's character from Taxi Driver) with the word "Lunatic" under it and I was going to get a "Death to the Pixies" shirt, but they were all out. Instead I picked up a poster for "The Wall." I'm going to have such a pain in the ass time finding a place for that.
After shopping, we went to 2Dogs, so I could put on a new outfit. I put on these dark jeans and my Lunatic shirt. It was cool because for the first time in like 3 years I DIDN'T HAVE TO WEAR A BELT. YAY FOR PANTS THAT FIT. I saw Thacker who looks EXACTLY like DeNiro in my shirt. It must've been like staring into a mirror when he saw my shirt. So after that, we went back to MB to visit Brit. I guess Katie has uber-badass taste because Brit really liked my pants. Jesus, they're only pants. So we stayed over at her workplace and ate. I ordered a sourdough bowl of clam chowder and some garlic bread for Katie and myself. It was good and all, but the bowl gets dry after you're done with the chowder.
Brit joined us for lunch, but then she had to go back to work. Needing something to do we went back to Katie's house and I watched this DVD with old Pink Floyd footage that someone burned. I'm not exactly the biggest Syd Barret fan, but it was a trip to see them as an acid rock band in the 60s (literally, a trip). After that, we put on this really cool Tim Burton short called "Vincent" which was actually narrated by Vincent Price. It was totally influenced by Dr. Susess. Rock on.
When we're done with the short, we expect Brit to be out of work. When we arive she's still finishing cleaning up. We have to wait for her and this waiting turns into a bloody fist fight that ends with me taking the face plate off of my CD/MP3 player and throwing it into the back seat. After that, we dropped off Brit at Gray's house and I went into SLO to do some work. There was some dude on guitar with a crowd of people watching. This is what Matt considers hell. So yeah I did some work and eventually Kristen comes over to hang out. We decide to play a game of chess as we think of things to do. We don't actually play chess, but instead we make patterns and then play for the other person. This wasn't working out. Instead we change our surroundings for inspirado to strike, so we dance in the middle of the street. No go. How about a walk around the block? Okay I see smoke, something is ticking. We just decide to go to her house to hang out. We eventually just talk about movies and watch cartoons (adult swim shows)! We decide that we need to have a PIZZA PARTY where we watch the worst movie of all time (Manos: The Hands of Fate MST3K version), episodes of Pete + Pete, Film Noir movies, and various adult swim shows. She was showing me an episode of "Home Movies" on Adult Swim and I eventually fall asleep because it's at 3:00 in the morn. This is after watching other shows on the tape she had. So she woke me up and it was a cool little montage that was a tribute to older films which went along with our discussion about how films that make intellectual associations to other films add a sprinkle of fairy dust to the magic of movies. To some this may seem lame, but it was actually a really fun night.
