Rhythm Heaven

I snagged my Ouendan 2 preorder at lunch today.  The shop was having a small special where I could also buy the GBA game Rhythm Tengoku for five dollars off.  The discount obviously isn't extravagant, but I decided to take them up on the offer since I was in such a great mood.  After I got home, I slid Ouendan 2 into my DS, powered it on, and proceeded to beat the normal difficulty in its entirety.

My verdict is this:

If you own a DS and you enjoy rhythm games at all, you really need to try this game.  I know your fanboy sensors probably explode every time I open my mouth about Ouendan, but I'm stating this with absolute sincerity.  The gameplay is rock solid, further refining the improvements that Elite Beat Agents brought to the formula, the characters and scenarios are just as wonderfully crazy as ever, and the soundtrack is once again a great mix of Japanese pop music.  It's absolutely everything that a rhythm game sequel should be.  Great gameplay, brilliant personality, and a touch of over-the-top manliness, all accompanied by a quality soundtrack.

Well, I guess rhythm games technically don't need to be manly, but it helps.

If you enjoyed the original Ouendan and/or Elite Beat Agents at all, you should enjoy Ouendan 2 without a doubt.

Hard mode, here I come!
