The Zweeble is being exceedingly cranky this morning. But he gave me a Ratatouille valentine, and whenever he cries I can see his new tooth, so we shall take our bright spots as they come. He's also asleep now, taking a really early nap, so I have no idea what the rest of the day will be like on that front.
My Lovely Husband gave me a really sweet Valentine. He wrote one line in it and made me go all squishy.
After he left, the Zweeble threw fits at breakfast. Then I went to change his very messy, icky diaper, and he kicked and screamed and squirmed the entire time. When he was much smaller and would throw fits on the changing table, I'd sing my way through it. Not because the singing calmed him down, but because it gave the emotional part of me (the one that was going "Oh no, he's never going to stop, he has colic, I am doing something wrong" over and over in my head) something to pay attention to while I changed the diaper. I can only multitask so much, so I use it to my advantage when possible.
Anyway, today was a singing day on the changing table. Haven't had one in a while. But it turned me from feeling frustrated and grossed-out to amused and ... well, still grossed-out.
So I get the kid cleaned up, and me cleaned up, and the changing table cleaned up, and a bottle made, and the bottle into the kid, and the kid soothed to sleep, and I go in to put him in his crib ...
... and there's a Valentine on the crib rail to me from Scott.
And there's another one tucked into the keyboard of the computer.
My husband wins.
:)
the joys of mothering a zweeble,
my husband cracks me up
