Okay, so it's been a few months. Whoops. When I do have the time to update, I just don't have the attention span to do so. But now I'll force myself to focus for a few minutes. Here's what's up:
School: Just finishing up the summer semester!! I don't know if I mentioned it before, but my program does a summer session that basically combines Spring and Summer into a solid semester. It's just a couple of weeks shorter than a regular Fall or Winter semester. Because I'm in the 16 month track, I get to go to school straight through the year. The payoff is that I finish in December, rather than next spring. So I'm working at the internship this week and all of next week. And then I get three glorious weeks off from all things school-related! But I'll probably be working at AP during those weeks, because extra money never hurt. Overall, this semester went well. I like all three of my classes, and I really enjoyed my professors. Two of them in particular were fantastic - I bonded with one over running, and the other was just hilarious. Both are amazing profs, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Internship: Technically part of school, but work-like enough to warrant its own category. It's been a super busy, super intense summer. And I have loved every minute of it. I'm a little sad to be facing my final semester there. I've grown close with much of the staff, and I really feel like part of the team. I will be sad to leave, but will definitely be keeping in touch with several of my co-workers and my supervisor. They are really some amazing people. The kiddos keep me on my toes, and it's not all easy by any means. But through working there, I have learned where my passion in the field truly lies. I'll start the job search in September, and I want to stay in inpatient or residential care. I love this work.
Running: Things are going really well here, too. I'm in the midst of marathon training. It's both awesome and ass-kicking at the same time. My mileage for last week hit 24 miles, and this week will top out at 25. I've joined a running club (the Northville Road Runners). I volunteered for a race that they put on last weekend and got to meet lots of great people. I got out this weekend to run with them for the first time, and it was great! I got to log 12 miles at Maybury on the trails. I'd never been there before, and it turns out I live right near one of the best places in town to run! I'm looking forward to meeting up with them again next weekend. Nothing specific is planned for August, other than continuing training, unless I decide to the the CRIM 10 miler. In September, I have Dances with Dirt. The following weekend, I'm volunteering at Run Woodstock, which is a whole weekend of races. Then in October, it'll be time for the Free Press Marathon. In January, I'll start training for a 100k race, which will be in June on the other side of the state. I'd also like to get back to do the Pig next May, but I'll have to see where I am financially at that point. All-in-all, things are going well and are right on track with all of my goals. Soon, I shall be an ultrarunner. :)
The Rest of Life:...is good!! Things with Mike are great. We're talking long-term, and there'll be cause for celebration relatively soon in the future....once I finish school and we're a two income household, of course. Right now, it's just life as usual. He's working his arse off, I'm busting arse with school, and in the evenings we hang out with Neo and assorted friends. There's really not much else to report on in this particular area, mostly because school eats up so much of life in general. But life is happy, and I'm pretty content with things.
I think that's everything. I've got one more paper to finish up for school this week. I've also got to head out to campus on Tuesday to drop off my ed agreement and turn in the paperwork for my loans. At some point, probably the same day I'm out in Ann Arbor, I have to go to get a new copy of my birth certificate. I need it to go get an enhanced driver's license, which I'll need to be able to run the marathon (much cheaper and arrives faster than a passport). The next two weekends will be fun, with long runs Saturday mornings, Grace's birthday, and a bonfire at Erin and Don's.
Now, I'm off to bed. Even though I have the day off tomorrow, I'm still on my old lady schedule. Hey...during the week, I run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Those days, I'm up at 4:30 a.m. to get in my run before class or work. So I'm on a schedule that gets me to bed at a decent time. Even being up this late (11:15 p.m.) is unusual for me.
Hope things are going well for all of you!!!
Love!
