TITLE: Missing Donna (Drabble)
FANDOM: Doctor Who
SPOILERS: Everything up to The Doctor's Wife
CHARACTERS: Idris (TARDIS), 11th Doctor, mentions of Donna Noble

As they walk down the path in the junk yard, Idris suddenly stops.

“Thief,” she says, not turning around. “I miss Donna.”

The
Doctor stops, both from preventing him from knocking Idris down but
also because he was not expecting that. That was a new feeling. Hmm. Not
sure how to respond that that, he questions, “What made you think of
her?”

Idris laughs. “I always think of her. She was good for
you, kept you out of too much trouble. She . . . what's the word . . .
ah ha! She balanced you. Made you better. And she was nice to me. She
didn't yell at me when she couldn't find a room.” She smiled. “I liked
her very much.”

The Doctor smiles back at her. “And she liked you very much.” After a beat, he added, “I miss her too.”

“When
everything's fixed, we should go visit her! I know, I know, we can't
let her remember, but we can check on her, make sure she's happy. Can't
we, Thief?” Idris/Tardis spun around, her eyes sparkling with something
that can only be described as hope.

The Doctor bites his
bottom lip in thought. “We would have to be very careful and you would
have to be quiet. And we would have to drop of Amy and Rory. Too many
questions.” He paused for a moment. “But I suppose we could. You know,
just to make sure she was okay.”

“Of course it will,” Idris/Tardis smiled, turning around and walking towards something shiny that had caught her eye.

The
Doctor smiled to himself. He really did miss Donna. First things first,
save Amy and Rory, get back into to the universe. He wouldn't think
about Idris/Tardis at the moment. It mad him sad. Thinking about Donna
made him sad, too, but in a different way. He was sure she was okay,
though, his best friend in all of the universe, he would know if
something was wrong. Right?

Right?
