I'm a big fan of Grey's Anatomy and I enjoy Private Practice. I'm not entirely sure what everyone's problem is. If I hear the words: "Jumping the Shark" one more time I think I might SCREAM!!
I will admit that Callie becoming a lesbian (or Bi, I think she's still undecided) is a little bit weird, especially since Erica "left." She's in a very odd place in her life and I imagine that it's all very difficult. It does seem that people up and leave her (George, Addison, Erica . . . ) so I imagine that she clings to people that are in her life (Mark, Cristina . . . though not so much recently, I suppose). We have to let Callie (and Shonda) find her way.
Also, it really pisses me off that people got so upset about Denny coming back. The man is dead, I get that, but if people paid any attention to interviews and articles it was said fairly quickly that Denny was there because Izzie was sick and that he wasn't really there. For the people who don't pay attention to those things or don't want to be spoiled, they should have sat back and let the story unfold. From what I've heard, it's going to be a complicated and emotional story line. There is no instant gratification here. Let the story unfold. Let yourself be surprised. Whether or not Katherine Hiegl (and T.R. Knight) stay on the show past this season, enjoy the storyline.
Meredith and Derek need more time together on screen. There have their lives to figure out and it's never going to happen if they don't get any screen time together.
In the last episode, I really loved the Victorian romance/slow motion thing with Cristina and Owen. It's a shame that that will be the only time the show does it seeing as Owen's (ex?) fiancé showed up at the hospital.
Shonda Rhimes is not out to kill her show. I don't know why people can't just watch the show, follow the story lines, and enjoy the damn thing. Alright, I'll admit there have been some weird moments (most notably Erica's speech on "seeing the leaves" with Callie) but these characters lead hectic lives. They lead lives with each other and seperately and they hold the lives of others in their hands on a daily basis.
What I'm pissed about, and no one seems to talk about, is the transition from season four to season five. In season four, when the Writer's Strike hit, we were somewhere (timeswise) in late fall. When we came back, five or six weeks had passed in the show and they finished the season out. Season five starts, there's a snow storm, and the characters are talking about it being October. Does no one remember that they did a Halloween episode? I thought maybe this was so we could have our first, official, Meredith and Derek Christmas. Christmas came and went in real life, but not on the show. So that couldn't be it.
I guess my point is that people are getting pissed about the wrong things. People (characters) do weird things all the time, but stopping time or making time go backwards is a new trick that I wish someone would teach me.
I (personally) am looking forward to the crossover episodes and hope that people will calm down and watch before jumping the gun (and not the shark).
