I'm wondering how to get tree sap off the hood of his car? I've applied the tar remover three or four times but I don't see much happening. Someone told me to try WD40 but I think that would ruin the paint job.

Try either Goo Gone or plain rubbing alcohol.

I would think that sap, being water based, might wash off with repeated applications of hot/warm water to melt it. Don't think it would harm the paint job to try.

For pine sap, really HOT water can help.
