Last American Hero

this is from the last game we played in Avengers.... i heart this stuff sooooo much...

Lydia Grant, or Sigma of the Avengers, walked up to Captain America, Steve Rogers, and put a hand on his shoulder. It had been a long hard battle against the rouge members of the brotherhood and it was time to leave. "Let's go home." She cast one final look at X, the last standing member of the rebels, and turned her back on him.

Which was when hew struck. A brilliant beam of light erupted from his outstretched hands and flew toward Captain America and Sigma. Sigma, however, was not caught unaware as she spun and let fly her own blast of light. Even as she stood in front of Captain America, Sigma could see her blast was not going to over take the blast of X. In fact, the moment they met Sigma's blue beam was easily over taken by the yellow beam of X.

Sigma's eyes grew wide as she stared down the oncoming beam of dangerous energy. Then hands wrapped around her shoulders and threw her out of the way, into a heap on the ground. Captain quickly held up his energy shield and engaged the full body cover to held his ground. Yet slowly the blast from X wore away at the shield causing small fractures within the energy shield. The team watched as the fractures got bigger until the shield desolved around Captain America, the brilliant blast consuming the form of the strong man.

When the beam faded, there was only a long deep scare upon the earth where Captain America had stood.

X stood and looked at the scene but barely had more than a second before the sound of screaming covered the silence. Sigma still lay on the ground where Captain America had thrown her, screaming her disbelief. Coming to her knees, her hands began to glow a fiery red and the same flame grew in her eyes as the tears began to fall. The only thing running through her head was how much pain she wanted X to feel. How she wanted him to fall to the ground and scream in pain and beg for release. Raising her hand out stretched before her, she let all the pain and sorrow and anger and frustration and hatred and loss out in a glowing orb that was her hex sphere. The sphere engulfed X within a blinding light.

Once the light had faded the only thing that was left was a crater at the top of the gouge in the earth. The remaining Avengers stood and stared at the area, completely devoid of words.

As soon as the Jet touched down Lydia was out and into the hanger. She was past Tony before he could say anything to her. She headed down to the subbasement and into the training room. A few stabs with a finger at the control panel and Sigma was facing off against X again.

Over and over, she played through the fight. Over and over, she pounded the fury into the illusion of X. Over and over, she screamed out her pain, her sadness. Over and over, she saw the face of the man who had brought the Avengers together and had helped them become a team. The kind yet hard face of a man who had seen too much and didn't think he had done enough.

Gone.

Gone.

Lydia fell to the ground before the image of X crying, screaming. Her hands glowing again with the red light as she threw one last hex sphere at the image before slumping to the ground sobbing.
