okay im done being nice..
I have been reading the dresden files a great book series by jim butcher.
Im on book 8. i've read storm front, fool moon, grave peril, summer knight, death mask, blood rite, dead beat and am working on proven guilty.
The books are amazingly well written and insightful. They regularly make me laugh out loud. Like full on vocal. I have loved each book and have copied lines that i love from the books. the characters are great. Harry is a witty dry old wizard that is listed in the phone book. He is like 6 foot and then some and with a tired "been there fought that" look, a staff and a leather duster(long jacket with a mantle that comes to his elbows) this jacket he wears becuase it looks cool when the wind blows. He is regulary called on consult for the Chicago PD. He works with a woman that is a rose pedal over 5 foot. Her name is Karrin Murphy. She works with the CPD. She is a cop trailed in some martial art and can break you before you can blink. Bob is the skull sidekick that acts as his mind in the gutter and know everything skull. he is glowing orange eyes in an old skull.
The scifi channel made a tv show based on the books. supposedly.
SUPPOSEDLY.
Nick was kind enough to find me the series that was canceled after 12 episodes. I have watched 14 minutes.
problems
there is no laura working in a cafe.
- Harry meets people at Mac's a bar that is designing to throw off magic used.
-there is no laura
the whole thing with his dad i will let go.
Bob..
-does not have a body nor does he have the ability to manifest
Harry's jacket
-is short... this is not the duster... wrong
Harry's uncle was killed by harry and taught him about magic
-NOOOO justin was not his uncle and there is alot more to that...
karrin is a brunet with wavy hair and is like 5.6.
-wrong and i quote "karrin murphy, head of the chicago pd's special investigation department, looked like someone's cute kid sister. She was maybe a rose petal over five feet tall, had blond hair, blue eyes, a pug nose, and nearly invisible freckles. She was made all of springy muscle, a gymnast's built that did not preclude feminine curves." this is not anything near what we see in the show.
Harry's car is a jeep
-no his car is a blue bettle that has seen far far better days that has no back seat and no floor in some spots.
Harry's "lab" is on the main floor of where he lives.
-wrong it is in the subsubbacement, the door is under a rug in the living room of a well worn appartment that has a fireplace, an actual icebox with real ice, a star wars poster and mismatched furniture lots of rugs and wall hangings.
the kid in the episode enters the lab.
-no one enters the lab. like ever. EVER.
and there are just some things that he tells people that he wouldn't. the wit is missing and snappy sarcasm is absent and really the energy that is burning through each book is just lacking.
this makes me sad.
