Not of the cool, Bethany going of alone to fight a powerful Vampire. From genesis_la

Dawn came down the stairs and made herself a snack. I wondered what it was that she was doing up in her bedroom in this massive estate that served not only as the home for most of us,(some of the slayers, who should remain nameless like Faith for example) but also as our work offices for the new Watcher's Council. Could it be that she was spending time on the phone with a boy?

These English guys liked to move fast, which, yeah, I know, is a hard thing to believe when you think that Giles is English. These English guys, or boys, possibly, as it were, might not move as fast as the French men do, but I would say that Dawn could easily have her pick of boys and if something happened, then I might have to get medieval on one of them.

I know what you're thinking. Me, getting physical with a potential foe. Well, you might want to change your thoughts. I'm not the same boy, or now man, that I used to be. Being a watcher has made it imperative that I not only hone my skills when it came to researching, but also that I take care of the machine known as my body, with training. Slayers were to be trained, and just yesterday, I had a training session with Bethany and wasn't even that sore after.

I even would have trained Amanda, but she was playing hookie, doing something, somewhere else that wasn't here, and relaxing about, probably out of anger because Giles had chose for her to stay behind and not go to Los Angeles with everyone else, just like Bethany also didn't care for. Bethany told me as much, but I could just see it in Amanda. She wasn't happy staying behind, and having lived through the battle that made Sunnydale a crater, it felt weird for her not to go, and maybe a little so for Dawn and I as well.

Okay, I was glad not to be going, but not for the reasons that you think. Maybe at some point, I'll get into those reasons with you later. But not now. Now, as Bethany hovered above and as Dawn wolfed down a sandwich, which was making me hungry for a hot pocket in a serious way, we got a phone call from the coven in Devon. I thought of taking the call as my own, but instead, I put the call on speaker.

Her words chilled me, and possibly all of us. There was death in the air tonight. Ewww. Why did it always have to be death, or flying into death. I didn't know what she meant. Did she mean that there would be a lot of death for the girls and the others going to Los Angeles. Because, after she said that death would be a theme, she mentioned the castle of of the Thames and the tunnel and Fangdan, and of a great loss to the world there. Bethany and I had been studying Fangdan, yesterday, and she looked at me and we both knew what she was talking about. But did she mean death there, or death in Los Angeles.

She was like never wrong, so hopefully she just meant that there had already been death's because of Fangdan. Before I could stop her, Bethany was gathering her things and in no time, after the phone call was hasta la vista, she was out of the door. I ran to the door. "Bethany. Oh slayer contaire! You should wait for Amanda if you are going to attack Fangdan and Rory and that bunch!"

She revved up one of the coupes and pulled out of the driveway, forcing me to look back at Dawn, and fumble with my attire, as if I needed to be ready to go. Dawn finished up her sandwich and looked at me. I wondered what she was thinking. She was probably worried about Buffy and the others on the way to LA, and while I was worried about that, my responsibility was to keep Amanda and Bethany out of trouble. If they patrolled, they went out together. Those were the rules here. Bethany and Amanda were the only two slayers safe and might, god forbid, be the only slayers left at the end of the night. If Btehany got killed by Fangdan or Rory or that hottie Katrina vampire, and if everyone died in Los Angeles, then there would only be Amanda left for slyers for like a generation.

"We need to do something, Dawn. And best of luck trying to get Amanda, who's probably out partying. Bethany just got in over her head, going there alone. Not just normal vampires there. We should load up and go after her."
