Giles had hired me back. He had been totally drunk and upset over the death of twenty-seven slayers, and had acted rashly, like M in 'License to kill' when he had fired Timothy Dalton out of anger, and had made 007 a rogue agent.
I left, hurt, feeling like it was all so, so unfair. It was unfair. I missed the girls already and knew that the Slayers Council, which Giles, myself, Xander and Willow had worked so hard to build and turn into a well oiled machine, or whatever they called it...had been seriously damaged.
I went to a pub, thinking that only Melissa, Jada, Buffy and Faith wer eleft and then Buffy and Faith would not be very happy with us, only further hurting the Council, which unfairly, I was no longer part of.
I got really drunk on a couple of really strong pale ales and felt how unfair that this was. When I felt like I had enough, I rushed back towards the Council and found morticians working to clean up the bodies of so many wonderful, dead slayers of the vampires. I looked over the bodies that were completed, made to look beautiful and full of life, when in reality, it was so stupid, because they were dead.
Giles saw me and then made coffee. He hired me back and I pleaded with him and he agreed that the Council wasn't dead and that more slayers could be chosen and we still had four slayers working in the world. He eventually, as I started to get a hangover, now longer spinning and tipsy, called the Coevn in Devon, and found that they were about to call him. Three new slayers were being chosen and needed direction.
Giles had to stay here for the burials so he sent me to pack, and excitedly, I did, packing clothes, stakes and holy water, as well as some diaries, that I could use to prove that this was real to two of the three girls. I was hungover, but thrilled and felt like we had a purpose again.
I couldn't help but think that rebuilding is happiness, and that's what we had to do. The news of these three slayers being chosen, two of them not knowing about this world, came along with Giles' plan to get Xander, Dawn, Melissa and Jada, for now, back to London, which was still the plan, and eventually, make up with Buffy and Faith, who we were both sure would come around.
I had to go to Cleveland and had the address for a girl named Leah Cleveland, and then to Chicago to see a girl named Monique Gable. The third girl was in Los Angeles and Giles and I were both excited, though having felt her punch before, I wasn't surprised that Dawn had been chosen. Like big sister, like little sister, I thought.
Before taking off for the direct flight from Heatthrow to Cleveland, I called Xander, who seemed to be with Dawn, because I could hear her in the background and gave him the news about Dawn, after telling him about two new slayers being chosen, and his silence was enough to make me know that he knew what to do.
I hung up, and happily got on the plane. Thankfully, the stakes and holy water buried within my clothes, passed through the airport screener, and on the plane, I fell asleep, immediately after takeoff. I didn't like flights, they made me all squeamish and I didn't want to be squeamish, since I had hope for the Council again.
The plane seemed to land minutes later and groggy, I got up and found that we were in Cleveland. Refreshed and not drunk or hung over anymore, I went to luggage to wait for my bag and got it, and ten minutes later, I was in a cab, headed towards Leah Cleveland's address.
