Rethink Your Dog's Intelligence

Aug 09, 2010 14:01

Do you think your dog is stupid? Well I did, until a couple of months ago, when I realized my dog is actually really really smart.

So my dog has her 'babies' little telletubies that she attacks when she's bored and throws around like an Orca attacking a little seal (total truth no lie). So we play fetch with her with them, yeah no big fetch right? Throw it she brings it back, play tug a bit then throw it again. The big thing is, my dog doesn't fetch outside.

Nope, not at all, she hates balls, has no need for them.

Until a couple of months ago, we thought she was really stupid, I mean if she did it inside, why didn't she do it outside?

Haha, well

A) Telletubies are just creepy, just they don't speak, just really wiggle around and are just, stupid so why wouldn't she pretend she was attacking one and ridding the world of one less creepy thing.

B) Why do physical excessive exercise outside, I mean it's really hot isn't it? Why would she jump around only to overheat herself. No, do it inside where it's nice and cool

C) Outside there is more space, so why would you have someone throw it farther so you have to run more just to bring the stupid thing back, I men c'mon? Honestly.

So I've come to the conclusion that my dog is actually pretty dang smart.

She sits where she will get human food that tastes better than her stupid dog food.

She knows I'm a lost cause to go to the bathroom at nine AM.

She doesn't bark when people she knows comes inside the back door creepily, but barks when I come downstairs with the person because she realizes that she's supposed to do something.

So when your dog won't do something, even for a treat, think about it from your point of view. Would you do that?

No I didn't think so.

Now when I point one way and my dog goes another, in that particular situation she's just a dumb ass.

But I still love her.
