Epiphany #2

This morning, while I was driving to work, the radio spewed the song "Let's Dance to Joy Division" by the Wombats. When I heard "...and celebrate the irony", I wondered what 'irony' actually means, and my Humor Muse Archie perked up.

"Why, it's gotta be something that was made of, or covered with, iron, of course." he said. "It's like 'woody' is 'made of wood' and 'dirty' is 'covered with dirt', 'irony' is either made of iron or covered with it." I can't win against that kind of logic, can I?
But then I wondered, how does 'ironic' fit into the explanation. "It's a word that means that something resembles iron. Like cubic is cube-like and bionic is like a living being."
"How does that go with moronic, runic, tactic, tunic, karmic, plastic, garlic...?" I asked.
"Moron-like, rune-like, tact-like, tune-like, karm-like, plast-like, garl-like..." he replied.
...
And it went downhill from there, specifically when I went with 'orgasmic'.

I love my Muses

Cheers,
