The one about never giving up

Mar 07, 2010 20:28

And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.

- Galatians 6:9

The quote(s) really spoke to me because I'm also in a situation where I'm struggling to keep going at the moment, so thank you for that, I totally felt indirectly encouraged :)

And I'm surprised they do that as well in your church (pray for people individually during the service) because they do the same in mine, and mine's considered not very conventional (let's just say our methods are less meticulous than yours, LOL). But I've been prayed for like that before too, by someone who has been known to be gifted with the ability to know things before you tell her the problem. Sometimes I wish I have such an open channel with God like that too, so that I'd always know what He wants or what to do next, but yeah, that moment was amazing. Pretty scary but it really makes you believe they're for real and that this miracle is real and meant for you. I believe I've changed since that moment I met her, for the better, and I probably wouldn't have gotten where I am today without that prayer.

I don't get to talk about these things a lot in LJ, so I'm so glad I found you!

Good I'm glad :D I don't like to keep things like this to myself it's just too good :) I hope whatever you are going through will get sorted out in due time. I'll keep you in my prayers for that.

That's awesome they do that in your church as well. I think it is just such a brilliant thing to do. Somethings you can't pray away or pray for on your own, you need others to pray for you as well. Just like it says in Matthew 18:19 “Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” Of course the Holy Spirit has to agree that what you are both agreeing on is for your own good and necessary but still it is good to have the prayer of others. Prayer is a powerful thing and I've had prayers that has changed me too and I hope the one I received yesterday is going to be another one of those :)

Me too! I've had God speak to me before in terms of answering questions about things that troubled me etc, but I've never had that direct connection where you actually hear His voice and are so anointed in the Spirit that you know exactly what he wants you to do. Oh, that would be awesome! I aspire to reach that state but I have got to be more informed in terms of what the Bible says and just in my relationship with God in general. I believe that is how I miss the mark by not knowing or being confident in the Word as much as I'd like to be. Does that make sense? I mean I go to church, hear the Word, read it and even pray it but I still have a long way to go before I am a full and mature Christian. I know I am out of the baby stages (of Christianity) but I think I've been stuck in the adolescent stage for too long and it's about time to move out of that stage and become an adult.

I'm glad you totally understood this entry and what it is like to have that amazingly glorious moment when someone so gifted in the Holy Spirit prays for you. I'm glad we found each other too :D It's great to have a Christian on my flist who I can go into full discussions like this with. So great!! ♥

I'm definitely with you on this. I've been hovering just beyond that baby stage for the longest time now, but sometimes it's so hard just to push yourself further. I'm gonna be totally honest and admit that laziness is mostly the factor here - it's what keeps me on the comfort zone and enjoy the status quo - but I also know that I'm far from reaching that level I probably should have reached.

We can both work on this together, at least :) I'm sure us meeting was totally not a coincidence ;)
