Yeah, I know disappear forever (I'm an ickle firstie phd student in CS at this point in my life, just got my BE in Computer Engineering!), and what do I pop back in for? to rant (
again) about semi-forced posting requirements.
So one forum admin complains that the whole "post till you hit the required amount, then disappear bit" is disrespectful, which yeah it is. On the other hand, %90 of these forums don't have appealing content (seriously, how many threads can you have that basically go "nod, I like that manga/anime/book/tv-show too?"), so it's kind of annoying to have to register and hit some count b/c the site-admin will throw a hissy fit if their hard work is posted somewhere else. I'm also starting to think that a posting requirement is sort of disrespectful to the community itself because it implies that the forum itself isn't strong enough to survive on it's own merits and instead users need to be bribed to participate. *shrugs*
Yeah, I'm totally just trying to put off homework. In other news, I've started checking out the New York tech meetup/lug scene, so if anyone else is an active participant, let me know.
