happy birthday to me ...

Oct 18, 2006 01:59

See the time, that's when I was born. Actually at the moment it's 1:58 am, which is Effie's time of birth. I'm posting now cause I'm awake now, just writing something for school. The assignment for school was to pick a Greek Lyric and explain why it struck you. I picked Solon's "The Ten Ages of Man", probably cause it breaks up life into stages, and I'm right in the middle of one.

19 is such an in between year. It's the last technical year of being a teenager, but I'm not a teenager the same way a kid in high school or middle school is, nor will I be an adult when I turn 20 the same way that someone out of school will. Teenager almost becomes a false construct, or at least a very superficial one. Ok, I must stop navel gazing, cause it's getting on my nerves. So instead I'll sum up the current things in my life.

I talked to my psych prof from last semester, and he asked me to be in his lab next semester, cause his head TA (my TA for my recitation class) has asked him to a few times. I'm thrilled cause I wanted to get into his lab, but really didn't want to ask. So I'm gonna be in a neuropsych lab next semester. My robot is coming along. It rolls around on the floor, but no in it's ball. It needs a new base, but I'm never able to get into the lab to finalize one cause I keep having meetings that I have to go to on Thursday. Dear school, stop eating my club/lab time. Especially if you actually want me doing lab work.

Oh, and dear DC37, I don't get any benefits from your union, so can you stop taking %10 of my paycheck. Especially when you only take %1 from my grandmother's paycheck, when she makes 30 times what I do. Granted, I really don't want my grandmother to be charged more, but I think it's ridiculous that I need to be charged so much for a union that I am forced to pay into.

rl, birthday
