school

I love being an engineering student, really, 'specially when it comes to bureaucratic quirks.

Today was early registration, so of course I'm not allowed to register for two of the courses I need cause they require pre-requisites that I've already taken, but can't count.I'm not that worried about being closed out cause it's early registration, but just gah. I think it's so idiotic to stop registration based on pre-reqs, cause uh, when am I taking the pre-reqs if not in the semester before I take the class? Even better, I just checked the class load, and the pre-reqs are already in my transcript for both classes, cause it's calc 1, which *gasp* I would have had to take to get into calc 2, which is the math class I'm currently taking. *headdesk*

The other thing that amuses me is that my school has an 18 credit cap if you don't have a GPA. Even if you have a GPA, you need the dean permission. So why does this affect me? Cause I'm accelerated in math, Calc 3 is 4 credits, so had I not placed out of comp sci 102, I'd be over my credit limit, likely yelled at, and maybe pushed off track. You can get special permission to bypass, but it's a headache and a half.

I like my school, I really do, but uch, now I gotta do the hour commute each way thing to see my adviser for five minutes to get them to ok the class and push threw the registration so it's done and I don't have to worry about those classes. Going into school on friday and testing NYC's transit system? I'll be doing it all next semester, but the last time I tried it, trains into Queens stopped running cause of a power outage at my local stop.

So your school frustrations?
