Assorted notes on art & books

I finally bought Eyes Like Stars. I am looking forward to reading it, since I've been hearing about it for months. Sometimes, I hate the number of ARCs that filter out :P

I also picked up Skullduggery Pleasant as a part of my ongoing investigations into MG lit. Review so far: better than 95% of YA and 103% of Adult. (And that applies to both MG and Skullduggery Pleasant, which makes me laugh aloud every half-sentence or so).

To balance out all the fiction, I also bought a book by R. Buckminster Fuller who was apparently one of the great thinkers of the 20th century. (47 honarary degrees and 29 published books!) Who knew? Thing is, acedemic types and accessable writing seem to mix like oil and water. The second sentence in this particular book was longer than this paragraph. Also, I was not aware "omnidisintigrated" was a word, but brilliant minds (and spellcheck!) tell me it is.

In art mutterings, one of my amazing best friends drew me this for my birthday. It's a badger from her stunning tribal series:

*happy sighs* She is kind of amazing. I now have four of the animals in her tribal series (the koala, kiwi, wolf, and the badger above) and my mother owns the rabbit. I'm spoiled, but I still want more of her art in my house, because really? Umm, yes. I just love this series. And she also has a dwawing with an eerie resemblance to Irial.

I have a to do list that's taller than I am, so that's it for now! :)
