8 The Shaman

The preview introduced Lorelei as being determined to become the star of the show.

Bloom is being questioned. Bloom is honest. Gomez is eating a donut. Evans thinks Bloom is lying.

Bloom turns to the camera and explains for us at home that if she tells the cops about the talent thief, they'd be in danger.

Evans has the watch in an evidence bag. Bloom breaks the fourth wall again to tell us that's why she couldn't find the watch at Annabel's place. Only, are there two watches? Because we last saw it in possession of the crocodile man.

Bloom's fingerprints don't match the ones on the watch. The cops have to let her go, but Evans is still full of suspicion.

Back at the loft Bloom's sketched the talent thief and is happy she can concentrate on getting the watch. But there's still tension with her not being on the show. She heads out while other girls get on camera. Ace announces a huge surprise.

Ace: You'll never guess what's waiting for you at the Winxmobile!
Aisha: A ticket?

Heh. But no, it's worse. It's Lorelei. Giddy and giggly and with even bigger hair. Aisha literally shoves her out of the way as in, she falls down. I'm not sure about this, the way Aisha's acting. Ok, Lorelei is extremely annoying, and I wouldn't want her driving either, but Aisha isn't even trying to be nice.

Lorelei is unperturbed and announces that she can drive too, along with acting, singing, dancing...

Stella: Disappearing, too?

The Winx are the good guys and good guys should at least hide their disgust. I mean you can't help feeling disgust if that's what you feel, but it's usually possible not to have disgust drip from your every move and syllable.

Bloom spies. Cops follow.

Lorelei is annoying in the pink RV and nearly causes a crash.

Lorelei messes with the spy stuff. Apparently there's a secret compartment in the pink RV, but I who have been watching this show am not sure what's in it.

At the Frutti Music Bar Bloom tells Roxy about the watch. Roxy is a pillar of sensibleness and calm. I really love the more mature Roxy.

And then-- Roxy magic! Artu is sitting outside, and through his eyes Roxy sees the two cops arrive. In this show the dog is Arthur not Artu. He has a big A on his nametag.

Conveniently, Gomez has the watch with him in an evidence bag. It's their only piece of evidence in the case. Gomez tries to romance Evans again and gets shot down. The cops come inside and Roxy is again full of awesome. She directs Artu to steal Evans' keys off the table. Off go the cops chasing him, but they don't leave the watch behind like I was sure they would.

Just then Dreamix kicks in, directing the girls to Beijing. Lorelei is thrilled! Ace is thrilled! Off we go!

They drive there. Seriously, the pink RV totally drives over the ocean on the map.

At a dojo... hey! It's the spiky fringe facepaint guy from the trailer! Thought we'd see him before this. Anyway he's sparring with a super-not-Asian blonde girl who's dressed similarly to the Winx spy suits. Facepaint guy can teleport thanks to the powers of meditation. Nobody seems shocked by this display of supernatural powers.

His next opponent is a girl in green who announces she's ready to make her dreams come true.

The pink RV contingent arrives. Stella and Lorelei fight. A cute Chinese guy photographs them. They fight more.

Aisha says this is called the Light Tiger Palace. It's like a martial arts convention. Aisha thinks this is cool. Bloom has arrived separately. The sensei introduces the semifinalists, who are very ethnically diverse. Facepaint guy is The Urban Shaman, and the girl in green is named Yu. She's the talent.

Fighting happens. Yu is badass.

Back at WoW the judges respond. Margot says, “If she were the least bit feminine she'd be a gorgeous girl.” What? Yu is dressed like an anime character, that's pretty feminine. Cliff likes her, he likes everyone.

Lorelei accosts Yu and asks for martial arts tips. L thinks she can do martial arts too. Can she really? That would make her a wonderfully weird character. The sensei has her thrown out, so we don't get to find out.

The Winx approach Yu more politely and warn her that she might be in danger, while Bloom scouts around for the talent thief.

The Shaman defeats a cool looking African girl.

Then it's the finals! Yu versus Shaman! They fight on poles, so someone at Rainbow has watched Ranma 1/2.

Yu is winning when the Shaman teleports both of them away.

Flora uses her nature sense to find Yu. The Shaman is indeed evil, he dusts Yu and opens a magic portal.

Dreamix time!

Too late, Yu has vanished through the portal. The Shaman has these magic stones he uses in the fight, they blow up and cut trees and stuff. His voice is very deep. He's a weird character. I wonder who he is.

Anyway, episode ends without it being clear who wins the fight. Stay tuned!
