5 questions asked by the wonderful
gr00vygirl. She must have thought I'd completely forgotten about this because it was a while ago! Comment to be asked questions yourself (obviously if you want to comment and don't want questions, say so :P).
1. If you knew you could stay with your boyfriend for the rest of your life, live happily and have a nice family life but your career would be a complete nonstarter would you be content with that, or would you give up love if it means you'd be a success in your chosen field?
Maybe it's naive of me, but I would pick love over a career. I don't even have to think about it. I really want to be successful but I no longer think being successful in a career will make me happy in and of itself. Living a happy life that I can share with others who love me, will definitely make me happy.
2. Do you think you would survive three weeks in 'the jungle'?
I'm not sure I could survive 3 minutes in the jungle! OMG SCARY CREEPY CRAWLIES! I have been to the edge of a jungle. I have seen the flying cockroaches and the thumb-thick millipedes and the hands-width spiders (who are not insects I know, I am scared of all invertebrates, ok?) and I would be running away screaming.
3. Intelligence or beauty; which would you choose and why?
This is a strange question for me. It seems to me that beauty is something so completely subjective. There is a consensus agreement about it sometimes, but everyone disagrees. No one who is considered beautiful can ever seem to see it themselves. So for that reason alone, I would choose intelligence. Intelligence can be unacknowledged but it is something that is far more concrete and more able to give comfort to the person who possesses it.
4. If you had to live in a third world country for a year which country would you chose and what do you think you could do to help them?
I could only pick one country? That's hard - it's hard to choose one country that has the most need of my help and harder to think what I alone could do in just a year. There are so many places in need of help. If I could find a way of doing it though, the first thing I thought of is going to Thailand and helping the trafficked child sex workers. I wish I could help them. I know there are trafficked sex workers everywhere, but Thailand has a reputation for being where all the British men go to get their kicks from children and desperate young people and it makes me absolutely sick. I don't know what I could really do to help but I would try to find outreach programs that can get the children out of the sex trade. At the very least, give them the basic healthcare and protection and education they lack.
5. What is more important to complete a look - a new haircut, new assessories or great make up?
This is a relief to have a light question! I would go with hair. Hair is the most noticeable thing. I love great hair on other people. I love my own too even if it's not in the best condition at the moment!
