How can thee be so fair?
Light instilled in dark raven hair
Scars by thorns of the deepest rose
In skin that shines with sunshine glows
And a myriad of loves cast on your face
A sense of being; a sense of place
And while this searching creates a map
The air breathes, the river shores sigh and lap
I cannot tell you of your kin
Of where you go or where you've been
But this sorrow stretches for miles that be
Stronger and deeper than the immortal sea
A crown of bone and gold and silver note
Upon thorns and flowers and blood emote
Centuries and seconds, years and days
From the finest minerals and purest clays
You were shaped from wrinkled hands and skin
You were shaped as you be and never again
Would anything such as the world pass by
On countless wings the world's memory flies
And through each recounting a memory grew
And never did you know it remembered you
Or heaven in grace nor hell despair
It only knew your raven hair
And the way the light touched your face
And the world felt better with you in place
So touch it now, forever hear it speak,
"The love you feel is strength, not weak"
