50K and Rising

Nov 15, 2007 17:15

I made it to 50k on Monday. Why haven't I posted 'til now?

...stuff. And that's as far as I'm going.

The story itself is at a halfway point, and I'll be picking it up again when I've finished recuperating (read: starting tomorrow because I finished "Invasion". More on that in a minute.), before going back and wrapping up Livewire.

1.) Rose has redeemed herself, and did so by the end of the first episode on Disc 3. Jesse strikes me as a stubborn stoner, and I still have issues with Dave, but at least he tones it down towards the end.

2.) I still want to chuck Larkin through a wall, baby or not.

3.) I still don't believe Tom is half as much of a douchenugget as I guess he's supposed to be, even if he did chuck Larkin into the water (Hell, I cheered.) and make Lewis cut off his arm. I'd say he's doing a pretty decent job of being an alien leader, to be quite honest. He'd have done even better if stupid Szura hadn't rushed his plans. Not sure changing the mom would've been the best idea until after the kids had grown and moved off, but I could understand the impatience.

4.) Lewis is horrifically naive in a cute and endearing way that just makes you wish there was a plushy version so you could squeeze the hell out of him. I also swear I've seen that actor before, because there's something about his voice and his eyes that is just INCREDIBLY familiar.

5.) Szura = least effective leader EVER. I'm sure there was a time, back when Tom was more ruthless, that he saw potential in Szura. I'm glad that, when he finally realized what a useless pile of crap he was, he got rid of him.

6.) Massive herding of people into ocean = fail. Randomly tacking on sudden pregnancies = fail. Not filming a thirty-second scene to explain what happened to Larkin (which is about the only thing NOT wrapped up to my satisfaction in the whole of the series. If they'd cleared that by the end of the episode, it would actually have been a pretty decent season--and show--finale.) = epic fail.

More to come when I've had time to digest and think about it more. Oh, yes, and the gag reel = epic win. That was some funny business.
