The Long Day

Woke up at 6.30, ah lie in! I had bread and butter for breakfast and Linnea helped me spread the butter. She had cheese and half an apple. She had a cup of tea, i.e. hot water with milk. Is that weird? Probably no nutritional content but she loves to stir it and one of her favorite imaginary games in general (and in the bath) is 'cup of tea?', 'milk?', 'sugar?", "stirring", "finished?"

We did some dancing, then Linnea told me to "TIDY UP," i.e. put all her toys back in her toy box, which I did.

Then I sorted through one of the wardrobes while Linnea dragged all four chairs into the bedroom, initially to reach the mobile and wind it up herself, but then I think she may have had a tunnel/fort plan in mind which never came to fruition.

Then we did some dishes, or really, I did some dishes and then Linnea gave them an extra scrub and rinse. She's very good at pouring water.

Then we took three bags of plastics recycling down the road, and met someone from playgroup who recognized her at the recycling bank. The bottom 'hole' was full so I lifted her up to help with most of it. We did a little bit of 'hiding behind the tree' on the way back.

Then we took two bags of curbside recycling down to sort into the 'mini centre bins' (i.e. metals no aerosols, paper, card, and mixed glass).

Then we took two rubbish bags down to the black bins. I'm reconsidering a bin lock because I'm sick of them being overloaded because only two of us roll them out and the other guy doesn't keep track of the dates.

The we went to the park, where Linnea soaked herself in the water feature and then stripped. Eventually I decided it was a little cloudy and windy to run around wet/naked and we headed home for dry clothes.

Then we went down the road to the cashpoint. Then we hopped on a bus into town and went to lunch together for noodles. Linnea mainly ate edamame and stole mine.

Then we wandered down Park Street together. Linnea wanted to go into every single shop but I only gave in at The Guild. She played with toys at a table and I looked at pirate themed magnetic dress up dolls.

Then we got a cupcake to share, absinthe frosted chocolate :D A smidge dry as we had it without a drink but the aniseed aftertaste was lovely.

Then we hung out at college green where we did a lot of running and Linnea charmed everyone and got given a 'Love Your Library' balloon, which she loved. Then we met Ian, nipped into Tesco and then took the bus home to go flump on the sofa for a bit while Linnea had a nap.

Then we got packed up and walked down to Temple Meads to hop on another bus, out to the Balloon Fiesta! We did bring the buggy for this but Linnea walked all the way to the station and most of the way from the drop off point to Ashton Court. I felt very special that Linnea pointed out every balloon to me to make sure I didn't miss any. She also whined intermittently to go on the bouncy slides but not too bad. We had some dinner, and Ian won her a white tiger stuffed toy in a £1 darts game which was pretty good going, if you ask me! I bought too much nougat and fudge and then we I stood in a massive queue for the toilets while Ian and Linnea ran around like loonies. Linnea didn't make it - there were only two people left ahead of us at that point :( In retrospect I should have asked if I could cut in. (I'd brought 3 changes of clothes just in case so it was more a shame than a disaster). Then we walked back to the drop off point (Linnea had settled into the buggy) and took the bus back.

I was just amazed at how much walking and running Linnea did in one day. I feel so sorry for her being stuck in with Mark on his bad days. I know she jumps around and does somersaults and stuff but she's such a runner, really.
