Murder most foul slept for no man.
Castle woke to his phone ringing. It was a strange enough sound that he jumped up with a jolt, hands panicky and searching the other side of the bed for Beckett. There were several things wrong with that. First of all, he had his silk sheets back. And no, that wasn't a bad thing, but it was different. That in combination with the view of New York City and his phone ringing off the hook.
He tripped over his pajama pants as he stumbled to his feet, swiping the phone. "Alexis!" he shouted, answering the phone. "Yes, Captain, sir, it is wonderful to hear your voice," Castle announced giddily. "...yes, even though there's been a murder. Oh, oh, a gory murder, I see. And Esposito and Ryan are..." Castle yanked at a sweater and pulled it on, bolting out into the main room and heading straight for Alexis' room.
"Okay, college co-ed found in the roommate's room with a piece of paper stuffed in her mouth, that is a little outside a simple case," Castle agreed, but he was distracted. "Sir, has Beckett been called in on this yet?"
Where was the island? Not that he minded having his apartment back, but he didn't trust the island not to come sneaking up around the corner and knock him out like a frying pan lying in wait.
"I'll be right there. Hold any suspects and..." Castle gestured to thin air. "Yeah, you guys know the cop stuff. I will be there."
He craned his neck up the stairs.
"Alexis! Mother! I need someone to pinch me!"
