hell is other people...

...but if hell is other people, then heaven is the other other people.

Really, I find people to be surprisingly pleasant when I stop and think about it. This break was supposed to be primarily devoted to work, but seeing as no work was done, it became primarily devoted to stopping. And thinking about it.

And in doing so, I came to the realization that maybe the pleasant facets of people are surprising because I spend so little time being pleasant myself. I look and feel old beyond my years, as if I'm fighting some fatal disease and showing the signs. I have become, in essence, the person I have for so long sought to escape: the girl who does not get better because she feels it is an insult to the glory of her illness.

But I find that really doesn't matter. Who wants to attract worry or sympathy? Instead, I just want to gush about the wonders of this brief interlude, which include but are not limited to:
1. Freezing in the meat locker with An Vu, especially given that this naturally led to snuggling with her while watching The Wedding Crashers and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
2. The Sigma Nu Thanksgiving tea was quite lovely, and the company was enlightening and amusing. So what we're communists?
3. Hannah and Ellen of 5th floor Next House lore. Open and loving people are always refreshing.
4. American Beauty.
5. Running in PJ's a la Bridget Jones to get lotto tickets that we didn't actually get.

And there it is. Here's to your having a fabulous Thanksgiving break and having a fabulous night, whomever you may be.
