I'm off to Europe soon

Jul 03, 2011 12:58

Last year it was Scotland (and what a trip that was *dreamy siiiiigh*); this year it's a little taster of Western Europe for 11 days.

SCHEDULE:
11 July:
Depart Montreal YUL airport @ 10PM-ish
12 July:
Arrive London. Check-in at hotel, then free time to explore London.
I might check out the hop-on-hop-off tour.
13 July:
London to Amsterdam via Belgium.
Ferry across the English Channel. We'll see the White Cliffs of Dover then Amsterdam's canals.
14 July:
Amsterdam to Rhine Valley (drive by Rhine River)
15 July:
Rhine Valley to Munich.
We'll see the Lorelei Rock (no idea what that is, lol), learn how beersteins are crafted, see the Glockenspiel & Marienplatz, and visit a traditional beer hall. I expect many tourmates will be shitfaced by the end of the night. I'm dreading that night at the hotel tbqh.
16 July:
Munich to Venice through the Bavarian Alps.
Pit stop in Innsbruck which apparently is the birthplace of a family friend who owns an excellent Bavarian restaurant.
We'll see the Golden Roof, Royal Palace & Olympic ski jump in Innsbruck. I think it sucks I'm going in the middle of summer.
17 July:
Venice.
We'll see the Bridge of Sighs, the Doges' Palace & St. Mark's Square, which I'm familiar with thanks to in-depth Art History classes in uni ;) We'll also see a Murano glass-blowing demonstration.
18 July:
Venice to Lucerne.
We'll see Lake Como, the Wooden Chapel Bridge and of course the scenic alpine landscape :)
19 July:
Lucerne to Paris.
We'll see the Bourgogne & Chablis region and visit a Bourgogne vineyard, then of course the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Élysées and the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Yayyyyy my ancestors' home land!!
20 July:
Paris.
Visit a French perfumery (not Chanel). Not too overwhelmingly excited about this visit but what the heck. I can wander off if it gets too boring since, you know, it's not a foreign language to me ;)
(either the 19th or 20th, meet with ancholia ? I'm probably going to do the optional cabaret show the tour offers but I don't know which night it is... will have to keep you up to date!)
21 July:
Depart Paris in the morning. Noooo!!

You know what makes me sad? The "Bring YG to the UK" flash mob in London (Trafalgar Square) is the 9th and I'm bummed that I can't be there.

I've got some long-overdue news to share with you guys. Soon soon soooooon :) As in, in a short bit. Okay? Hang on tight bbs.
