korean ads, let me show you them
I really, truly have an unhealthy love for Jang Geun Suk. I had a similar fangirling moment when I discovered Bollywood's Hrithik Roshan, although now I'm more into Imran Khan because he seems a bit more of a black sheep who'll do unusual stuff (Ranbir Kapoor, too, come to think of it). But anyhow, I was talking about Jang Geun Suk.
Koreans and Asians in general will go all out for their ad campaigns. It's insane. They'll even make a freaking music video for an mp3 player. Wot. But ya gotta love the crazy, because they'll make some cool gems
Magic Drag - an MV advert for Samsung's YEPP
Eh. Cheesy story, yes, and I dislike overly reworked vocals as a general rule, but I love the beat. And hahaha Geun Suk's received some mixed reviews about his rap bit, but *cough* he is a hot gadget ;P I think this one's fairly recent, because it features his Mary Stayed Out All Night hair. If you'll remember, I certainly never minded long hair on guys (*cough*Hanson*cough*). One could argue that Geun Suk's looks are too pretty to be considered "manly", but tbh I've seen him with short hair and the guy has no trouble looking like a guy's guy :) Not to mention that, did I mention I don't mind long hair? His smile kills me every time.
Geun Suk is big on the tv screen, there's that, but he's also established himself as an urban scene personality, hosting radio shows and DJ'ing around. And the reason why he's singing in every single MV I'm showing here is that he's established himself as, maybe not a singer per se, but a more than capable actor-singer. I've said this before, but he's not always consistent in his singing, which is too bad, because I think he could have a career as a singer besides acting. In spite of that, he seems to choose his acting gigs so that he can exercise his singing chops, because I think he's sung in maybe nine of his films/tv shows. Good on ya, babe :)
I was listening to this at work today and it struck me that the whole "drag" this could totally refer to flirting. See, in French, "draguer" means flirting. And I was like "oic what you're saying, hyung-nim..." lol

Looking noticeably younger. I think this is before his hyung-nim days (errr, hyung-nim refers to his You're Beautiful days. I think hyung means "pal" or something like that among boys in Korean. One of the characters on YB kept calling him hyung-nim which I think is more formal. There, confusion sorted out). I'd say... 2007? Or maybe even before, because that looks like his Nonstop look... Anyway. Sweet cheeks. Gosh I love his adorkable smile. And his cute dancing. Hee.
Black Engine - an MV advert for Black'n'Jean
Well, this was certainly around his You're Beautiful days. You can tell from the hair styles that are reminiscent of the stuff he sported on the show. Also, this showcases his (natural) singing voice a lot better than the others so far. I like his style, too :)
Toucholic - another MV for the YEPP.
Possibly my favourite of this series. Nice storyline. Although, lawl, Geun Suk ssi, you should not venture into the world of rap. Possibly around his You're Beautiful days as well.
