thriller, christmas, prof and *slumps*

The Hunt for Atlantis is fucking amazing. I'm in the middle of a conspiracy theory that did an about-face that totally had me gobsmacked, and now genocide has come into play. Before that there were lots of explosions (destroying evidence of the last remains of Atlantis? No. Fucking. Way.), a fight underwater, sudden deaths, and even before that a temple with three challenges (Strength, Skill and Mind), kind of like at the end of Philosopher's Stone though of course definitely more potentially lethal. Not to mention that the action scenes are wonderful. I definitely recommend for historical thriller lovers. When I get an email saying either one of his other books is up for grabs on bookmooch, I am so swiping it from under anyone else's feet :D Nom nom books haha.

Today we threw a "Christmas" brunch thing for my sister Jo, who is newly returned from a year in Chile, and probably for good. The situation with the boyfriend is uncertain as of yet, though it seems they've patched things up. It's a crying shame. Jo will never learn. She'll never break up with a guy first. Never *shakes head* Although tbh the boyfriend was a lot more social than I've seen before. Like, honestly, at Christmas Amy and I Skyped with her and he was just reading something on the screen next to Jo, paying no attention to the call at all. Pfft.

Am meeting with one of my profs tomorrow about the direction I want to take in his class (everyone's forced to do these appointment thingies). He said he didn't mind if we wrote a paper instead of making something for the final project. "The writers make something and the doers write is what would happen in the best world". Well... I like making stuff but not conceptual, programming-heavy pieces so I've decided to write. Hoping he's not an asshole grader like my always-hated asswipe "sit around and discuss this text to death and way beyond class end time" teacher. Honestly, I wrote using the same structure I use for papers for all other classes (and I typically get A-'s at the very least on all of 'em) and he trashed my thing with a C-. Yes, it still burns okay. Even though I'll never see his face again. Not intentionally, that is. Relatedly, I went on his ratemyprofessor.com page and critted him heavily. Ha. It felt soooo good. Good riddance, sir.

Hmm, did nothing much today except eating, cleaning dishes (lots o' them) and reading (*points up* and school stuff). What is it about a school term that drains me dry of any realy creativity? Seriously, I feel like whatever I write is pure shit these days. I mean I wrote a pretty good section of Leaving Marks yesterday but otherwise I feel like it all lacks any... I don't know what. Ugh.
