House season finale

Holy shit

I was wondering earlier today whether I'd buy the season six box. Well, I would buy it anyway, because I have a collector's mind and could not have seasons 1-5 and not buy 6, but I was thinking that I didn't want to re-watch most of the episodes, since season six is quite depressing.

I totally take it back.

Finale was absolutely amazing, and I guessed the ending - well, I guessed that Cuddy would show up before he took the Vicodin. Like, last season she saved him and it was all a lie, so now she'd show up and save him after he thought they were done forever. But though she did show up, like I predicted (seriously, how come I don't hit the lottery? I guessed the ending of four episodes this season!), she didn't save him. She didn't take the Vic from his hands, she gave him the choice of taking the pills or taking her hand. And he chose her. The symbolism was amazing.

Also, I loved that they showed House's disappointment first. In the past, House was a jerk and was miserable, so it was quite logical to think that things would get better if only he changed. This season, he changed; he did everything right and it backfired, because it didn't depend on him only. He didn't have the control over other people's actions, only over his own. So, Cuddy started dating Lucas, Wilson went back to his ex, Taub still cheated on his wife, and Cameron left Chase. He didn't want those things to happen (he actually tried to prevent some of them from happening) but they did. Because he could only do his part; the rest was up to somebody else.

What I liked most about the final scene is that Cuddy is there no matter what. He asks whether she believes he'll change and she says 'I don't know'. I mean, she doesn't know if he can become the man she dreams of, but it doesn't matter, because she loves him anyway. She accepts the man he is, she's not trying to turn him into Lucas (and who would want a Lucas, anyway? He's as boring as a blank sheet of paper).

This is real love, folks. Now that's romance.

true fantastic love, house, tv
