Debate and other thoughts

Did anyone else on here even watch the debate? I thought it was very telling that Lehrer had to encourage them to argue with each other. For the most part they were both just sound bites, although I still like Obama better.
I was struck with a strong feeling of "Is this it? Isn't there anyone else I can vote for?" the whole time I was watching. But after they'd both had time to grow on me a little, I think I'd be satisfied if we could make them both president, and have two co-presidents. Together, they almost make an acceptable leader. Although, I suppose leaders of foreign countries might be put off by their two heads and eight limbs.

I've been reading the bible lately, and I've gotten to the middle of Deuteronomy. You know, God has a pretty good setup for a nation in there. Treat other people well, cancel debts after seven years, don't take advantage of your hired man, if you see your neighbor's ox wandering around in a field bring it home to him...these are good rules. How did our society become so insane? When they started talking about Iraq me and my mom got into a conversation about the issue, and we came to the conclusion that in the end it's all the European's fault for starting the crusades in the first place.

Or maybe the Romans, they messed up Jerusalem AND killed Jesus, both or which indirectly caused the crusades to occur later. Or...oh I don't even know. You know what, mankind just really sucks sometimes.

After the debate I looked on the washington post's website's factchecker, they had some interesting info about who was telling lies. As it turns out, both of them told some fibs, but according to them, McCain told a larger number and more extreme lies.

I will still definitely be voting for Obama, but I can't help wishing a hero would arise and vanquish the villains who oppress us. America could really use a superhero right about now. But..not like superman. Like...some kind of accountant superhero, or someone who could lower inflation and balance the budget with the power of their thoughts. Or maybe a genius scientist who could create cold fusion or something, so we could stop using fossil fuels.

I noticed that Obama was endorsing a plan for alternative energy and this is cool, but you know what? I've heard that one before, over and over again. We'll see if he actually plans to deliver. Bio-diesel is a blind path that leads nowhere good, so I don't like that he mentioned that. (FYI, ANY fuel that is burning something is not helping things. Bio-diesel is just a way to stop using foreign oil, NOT a solution to global warming.)

You know what? I really can't pay attention to politics. It always makes me so fucking depressed.
