So let's see if I can pound out something resembling an actual update before I have to go to work.

Things have been pretty decent - which is why I haven't updated to bitch about them. Ang managed to complete her Lent resolution (?) of not eating any fried foods at all for 40-some days, which impressed the hell out of me. Our grass has been growing like it secretly aspires to be bamboo, leading me to think that maybe keepoffthelawn doesn't have such a bad idea. We've been having a blast cheering for the Sabres - they've gotten through some real nail-biters, and now need only 8 more wins to skate with the 'Manly Pup' (my friend kidflash25 is awfully superstitious). The invitation came for my step-sister Susan's wedding (which is now in ... 3 weeks), which is being held at the Seneca Park Zoo. See, she works with the elephants there. Some of you may remember that last summer, we got to go hang out with the elephants for a few minutes (ok, we fed them celery and one tried to suck the shoe off my foot). Last I heard was that the elephants were somehow going to be involved in the wedding. Don't despair! We'll take lots of pictures. Our friend Rick and Lauren are getting married a few weeks after that. He's Irish-Catholic, so I'll do my best to try and remember some of what happens.

Work's been not too bad, for the most part. We had a driver leave (no one was really that sorry to see this particular guy go). He gave his two weeks notice, and then decided to not come in for the last four days of it. Which was really terrific, because that's when he was supposed to be training his replacement. Nice. So there's been a fair amount of overtime these last few weeks. I picked up a bunch of it on Monday and Tuesday this week, when I ended up sitting for a total of 7 hours with flat tires. On Monday, I went to Silver Springs, NY to do a trailer swap. When I got there, I discovered (in the course of inspecting the trailer I'd be bringing back) that there was a flat tire. Three hours later, I was finally on my way. The next day, I had to go to Buffalo, pick up a trailer, then go to Syracuse and do two deliveries and three pick-ups. Well, this trailer lost a re-cap on the Thruway. Just as I was passing between the off-ramp and on-ramp from an exit. So if this'd happened 1/2 mile sooner, I could've limped off the exit and found a diner to sit in while the tire was getting repaired or something. Instead, I sat there for two hours waiting for the tire guy to show up, and another two for him to change the tire. Judging from the piles of rust he beat off the hubs, the wheels hadn't been off in quite a while. So I didn't make it home until everyone at work was gone except the night guard.

And then yesterday, I took my van in to get some brake work done. They'd been feeling kind of funky, and we're helping a friend move this weekend, so I wanted to be sure they were in good shape. Well, not only were my front brakes totally shot, I also needed new tie-rod ends. So it's looking like the overtime I'll be picking up this week'll be a really good thing to have. Heh.

Also, we're having a cookout on the 28th - the Sunday before Memorial Day. If you're reading this and know how to get to my house, consider yourself invited. But try not to bring too many crazies - my neighbors like calling the town and filing complaints about things.
