Place Review

last night everyone was driven into a bad mood by hunger. Nobody wanted to get up, get out, and get something to eat! Finally, I had it with the laziness and the pains growing in my stomach and basically shoved Leslie out the door. Her suggestion was Austin Java. She could have said anything and I would have been happy. We arrived to a little coffee house with a porch. There was ample parking space, which was really nice because the place was full. They allow dogs on the porch which is another plus. Wednesday they have half-off appetizers, and thank you to the cashier who told us about it! Vegetarian dishes are also sprinkled around the menu and marked with a little carrott. Our dinner consisted of (for 3; descriptions taken from the menu):

Appetizers:

Crawfish Quesadillas
Plump crawfish tails, green onions, cheese, cilantro, jalapénos, & tomatoes served with a remoulade dipping sauce

Spinach Artichoke Dip
A large bowl of creamy spinach, artichoke hearts, and Monterey Jack cheese dip served with tortilla chips, our homemade focaccia bread, or both

Meals:

Confetti Penne Pasta
Sautéed asparagus, red bell peppers, corn, red onions, garlic, olive oil and Parmesan tossed with penne pasta for a vegetarian delight

Crawfish Avocado Salad
Crawfish tails & green onions with remoulade sauce atop a bed of mixed field greens tossed with our balsamic vinaigrette, pickled red onions, tomatoes, sliced avocados and corn Pico de Gallo - a house favorite

Grilled Tuna Nicoise Salad
Grilled yellow fin tuna steak over a bed of mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, olives, eggs, capers, roasted red bell peppers and a touch of balsamic glaze

Everyone loved their food. I loved the appetizers, but my food was only okay. The grilled tuna was over grilled and tough. To call it a salad was almost a joke because there weren't very many mixed greens. I also had iced tea, Raspberry Frenzy Iced Tea to be exact, and it was GOOD! Despite my sub-par salad, I would definitely recommend Austin Java. Sundays they show Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy; Fridays they show movies. Basically, Get out the house and watch TV!!
