I fix0red the dryer! All glory to the hypnoBen. My dear father-in-law diagnosed the problem over the phone, and I went to the parts store to get a new blower wheel. On Saturday, I got around to actually installing it. Suddenly, a dryer that sounded like a drunk Fred Astaire became as quiet as a drunk Marcel Marceau. Of course, I couldn't get it right on the first try. I had to take it back apart to get the belt set on the drum correctly, but by the end of the day, we had a working dryer again. Oh joy! Not only do I get to have clean clothes, but Angie is going to make me a cake. I heart cake.
Not all is well in home improvement land though. We took our French doors down to repaint them, in preparation for painting the living room this weekend. After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will no longer give my money to Sherwin-Williams. I'm rather disappointed, since S-W is a rather reputable source of paint, but we've used several different batches of paint from two different stores and experience is consistently sub-par. The coverage is shit, and it is a rather expensive paint. Even with the Purdue discount, Sherwin-Williams is considerably more expensive than the Dutch Boy I can get at Menards, and we're more pleased with the results.
I went in for my annual Wellness Screening this morning. Purdue gives me cash money just for getting a quick checkup and filling out a questionnaire. Yay. I get more money for completing my "apples". As it turns out, my cholesterol is higher than it needs to be. Total cholesterol was about 220. Eek! So I've set a goal of 150 for next year, which is about where I was last year. I'll be honest, I don't get any legitimate exercise anymore, so I'll start that. And I'll also eat oatmeal and/or Cheerios more often. Mission: completely achievable.
