Or perhaps it is simply obsessive, compulsive geekdom. When wishing to refer derisively to something which is incredibly old in a Facebook status update, the colorful term which pops into my head is "paleolithic." Rather than simply using it in the sentence, I pull up wikipedia. Paleolithic age? Period? Epoch? What about "late" or "early" -- ah, "Upper" -- got it. And capitalization is correct, as well. Now I have spent about 20 minutes and checked eight webpages to make sure that my little descriptive term on Facebook shows correct usage and terminology.
It is scary, how often I do this. I may play fast and loose with grammar, but by Jove I do not wish to appear ignorant.
