Ren immediately picked up her PDA, thinking that it must be someone from Ryuuoumaru calling in about the latest crisis. Her eyes bugged into saucers, though, when she saw the name on the screen.

"A-Amado-kun!!" Ren gasped, nearly dropping her PDA. As she scrambled to catch it, her thumb slipped over the button that would pick up the call. "A-Ah, gosh, almost... There!" He'd be able to hear shuffling noises as she held the device up to her ear.

"H-Hello?"

"H-hey!" Amado said, smiling a bit in relief as he heard her. "What're you up to? I didn't hear anything about the academy exploding, so I figured things were okay enough to call." He said half-jokingly.

"..." Ren hung her head as the words 'academy exploding' rung through her head. "Uhm, well, I'm not really up to anything right now...! But..." And she hung her head even lower. "D-Do you want the good news, or the bad news...?"

Amado frowned a bit. He had been joking, but that...didn't sound good.

"The good news is that I think it's almost over...!" The Yellow tried her best to sound as optimistic as possible... but pretty soon her tone lowered again. "The bad news is..."

And that's when Ren told him (mostly) everything.

"I really do think we're going to figure it out, though. Ryuuoumaru has really pulled together on this... You... I think you'd be proud."

"..." A hand came up over Amado's face. "J...jesus..." He muttered. He felt an intense wave of guilt for not being there, that he had to beat back down. He was glad, if nothing else, that it was apparently almost taken care of.

"....I dunno, I...don't think I have any right to be proud..." He muttered.

"Nonsense," Ren replied at once. "You started it, after all... And now it's important enough to everyone that they're still a part of it, even though you're... not here right now."

She then decided that a change of subject was necessary. Probably wanted, too. "Where are you right now? Still at home with your dad?"

"..." Amado's voice suddenly went dead as he remembered how long it'd been since he talked to Ren, and what she didn't know.

"...no, I...I left." He muttered.

"...my dad..." He reached his prosthetic hand up to his neck almost subconsciously, the metal fingers rubbing his Seal mark.

"He tried to take my Seal, Ren. He's...one of them."

"A-Amado... -kun..." The girl held her hand to her mouth for a moment. 'His father is...?' It felt like her stomach had just dropped down to her feet. "A-And you're okay...?"

"...yeah. He didn't get my Seal. I got away." He said. "Right now, I'm...looking for Ryuuji, yeah." He said. "...just...if he shows up at the academy...dunno why he would, but...if he does, be careful."

"I think that's a standard these days." Ren tried to chuckle again, but it came out pretty dryly. "They said that a while back a couple of people showed up on the beach and started fighting... but they got booted off pretty quickly, so I guess they weren't anyone important. But still...

It seems like... it's getting scarier around here. Maybe I never noticed before because I was on the sidelines... But we'll be careful...! Really, I also think that at this rate we can't be beat!"

He scratched his head a little. "Heh...how about that..." He said. He knew exactly what she was talking about, but he...still didn't feel comfortable telling her he'd been there...

"..." He nodded. "Yeah, it...sounds like you guys have gotten strong -- it...sounds like you've gotten strong." He could tell, her voice was more even. She'd barely stuttered at all while they'd been talking. It...made him happy.

"Reiko-chan's gotten stronger, too!" Ren didn't really believe that she herself had gotten all that stronger. 'Lost my duel, lost my powers, almost got Riku-san killed... Ugh.' "She's been training with me almost every day, and she's getting really good with her abilities... If she doesn't stop, I might have to step myself up or stop working with her."
