*growl* (A public note to Cogent and Level 3)

Cogent?

You're no longer a major player. Suck it up and pay for transit like all the other good little Tier 2 ISPs.

Level 3?

Stop being such assholes. Throttle the bandwidth, but quit fucking over your customers and the rest of the Internet.

My day is gonna be interesting. We're already getting complaints from insurance agents that can't mail us.[1] Today should bring a nice flood of this.

*sigh*

[1] Even though we're getting transit to the Internet from what is effectively three Tier1 ISPs, the Internet routes, according to the BGP tables I'm seeing, are massively realigning right now. That, and any Cogent connected webhosting or ISPs that our agents use for their business are falling on backup links, creating hotspots in various Internet peering points. Traffic is having a hard time getting through. I'm going to have to make adjustments of services between our MCI and Sprint address spaces to make mail work a little bit better. I was going to need to do this anyway, but it forces me to compress parts of a two month project into the space of 48 hours.

nanog, fragile internet, isps, doomed, peering, screwing over the customer, pissing contests
