My best friend and I started watching Queer as Folk in early January. This weekend we made it to the end. Wow.

I knew how it was going to end. Being the fic whore I am I started reading not long after we had begun and I realised how much I loved this show. But knowing and seeing are two very different things. I feel bereft. A little cheated. Immediately after the the credits started rolling I had a heavy feeling in the pit of my stomach. When i woke up the next day it was the first thing I thought about- then chided myself for getting so emotionally involved in this... this completely unsatisfying end for these FICTITIONAL characters. But damnit- Brian and Justin deserved better. WE deserved better. Would it have killed the writers to have  stood behind the maturity they had started to show with these two? Obviously so, because in the end it was so black and white. Brian didn't want Justin to sacrifice his art for love and Justin didn't want Brian to sacrifice his "self" for love. Hello- ever heard of compromise! Of evolving BECAUSE of the person you are with, not in spite of them. GRRRR.

But, I take can take comfort in knowing that the fandom is here- I will grasp tightly to the thought that (even though the final sequence in Babylon does squash this a bit for me) their relationship is not over, there is an open-endedness to the story that can be filled with teh love, angst, fluff, HOT SEX, and everything in between.
