A week ago Friday I prepared a crock of vegetable beef barley soup to bring to mom’s for Saturday’s lunch. It’s best that I do the cooking in my own house, as she has everything set. I paid bills, did some laundry, brought 37 shirts to the dry cleaners, read LJ, and packed. I also visited Walmart in Secaucus to see what it looked like. I ended up buying a few DVDs - Alexander, The Interpreter, See No Evil and Timeline.
Once Patrick got home from work, we drove to Pennsylvania. Luckily Devi (my first girlfriend) was going to be in attendance and since she lives in Queens was already transporting my sister and Ciara, thus saving me a trip.
I let them all open their stockings (laundry bags), and even made one up for Devi. It’s always a big laughing moment. One of my gag gifts this year was to my sister. I recently found a wedding souvenir from 1989. It was from Kim and Vee (who have been divorced for many years). It was a glass jar with a glass lid. It contained a large feather and plastic couple with their names written on the outside. It was still in its original gift box. She pulled it out of her bag and immediately began groaning. “What did you put in here? Where am I going to put this? Is this junk?” Probably Devi and my mom and my sister had once received this trinket as well. After we all had a good laugh, and they were putting their Kringles back into their bags, my sister accidentally lost her balance and somehow the souvenir got broken (inside the box - no one was injured). We all agreed it was fate, and it solved her problem of not having to take it home with her. It truly was not intentionally damaged. That evening I ended up giggling in my sleep over her reaction. I ended up watching the ultimo finale to Gateway Atlantis with Devi though I had never watched a single episode prior. It was just nice to chat with her during commercials.
Saturday we did the present exchange. Got lots of clothing this year (that I picked out) and two sets of scrubs, a Fossil watch to add to my collection. Had the soup for lunch. We then played Ciara’s I Spy memory game and watched Indiana Jones Crystal Skull on Blue Ray. For some reason I found the earlier Jekyll & Hyde DVD clearer. Gene treated us all to dinner at the Powerhouse and then we finished the night with a good time DVD of Mamma Mia!
Sunday morning got to see some of American Pie’s Band Camp. Sean William Scott’s character’s brother is all grown up and just like his older brother Stifler. Another hottie with some of the same facial expressions. Had lunch and drove home. Luckily Devi could again take my sister and Ciara into Queens saving us the trip.
