Our friends Daniel and Ted flew in for the weekend. Daniel recently returned from living in Israel for two years. They went to the protest while I continued to study.
I also managed to get my first work out in in a long time.
We went to dinner at Skinner's Loft (where Patrick and I had our civil union celebration a year ago). Our friends made a point of telling the waitress and we were treated to free dessert by the owner along with some kind words from a hunky manager type. Everything was very tasty.
It was Boots, Bras, and Boxers night at the Big Apple Ranch, so we (of course) went out dancing. We were surprised to see our friend Frank in town from Holland. Met a new Jeffrey, remet Edgar (whose smiling face reminds me of
excessor, though I haven't seen Paul out dancing in his tighty whiteys), and got Tall Paul to take his pants off. We were going to stop at the Eagle after but T&D weren't thrilled by the music.
On Sunday we went to a matinee performance of The 39 Steps. T&D picked up tickets from TKTS and we got the first row! It is a spoof of the Alfred Hitchcock film, and they manage to throw in bits of his other stuff. A cast of 4 plays over 100 parts in cleverly done accents and costume changes. They use lots of sound effects with various motion-like stage choreo to portray various action scenes. A multitude of media is used and I ended up enjoying it much more than I thought I would. Did I mention it is a comedy? Very cool ideas are used, and the time flies by. We went to Azuri for dinner and then drove the boys to LaGuardia for their flight home. I then worked on some C-Gulls choreo for my upcoming and final dance.
