Patrick had off for Columbus Day so we went to Jersey Gardens where he was able to stock up on new footware. We also picked up a few more pieces of Corelle dishes.
Back at home I cut his hair, and had him touch up the back of my mohawk which hadn’t been touched since August.
That evening we met
nkdmango and Roger in Manhattan to see another performance of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs For A New World. I read that this was the first time he was allowing it to be performed in New York since the original production. We had seen it in New Jersey in the past. I wrote about it
here.
This performance was done very differently. It included an additional cast of about a dozen youth members in addition to its four adult leads. Set was minimal but there was a bit of costuming and I felt it was more cohesive and actually told a story, rather than just being a musical review. My friends were more critical.
Using the younger cast has also managed to get more youngsters involved in his music, which I believe is a good thing. There was a bit of dance notated as musical staging.
While the sound system had a few problems, I thought the voices were fresh, and they brought the concept of hope to the stage.
