Things have been crazy, and I haven't posted in quite a while. I do have some rather large news, but it'll be in the next post, and locked (so if for whatever reason you read my journal and should be in the loop but don't have an lj *cough... Erik....*cough*, ask someone else who is on my friends list what's up....)
As far as more mundane news goes:
Jon and I both got our 2nd degree black belts back in February. It was a bit anticlimactic, since there wasn't a huge testing/exhibition for us to show our stuff, but on the other hand, we both have trained often with the grandmaster, so it's not like he was unaware of our abilities.
I haven't managed to finish anything new in art, and I'm not sure that I will anytime soon. Nevertheless, I will be selling maybe 8 or so canvas prints of my art at Opus Festival in Denver over memorial day weekend. The prints will be split between 13x17" stretched on canvas frames (down to about 12x14") and ones formed into wall scrolls (down to about 13"x14"). George R. R. Martin is the guest of honor, so it should be a very interesting con.
Working at home has been going well, but it is often difficult to feel tremendously motivated.
In sadder news, my 95 year old grandfather just passed away last week. I feel somewhat like a monster in that while I'm slightly sad, it's difficult to feel that upset about someone that old who was well in the process of losing his mind and certainly wouldn't have even recognized me if I had visited in the end. I guess after Dave passed away, it really put things into a certain perspective for me, and it's just hard for me to be that choked up about the death of someone who is old and has already experienced a very full life. I'm a bit disturbed about feeling this callous, though.
bleh. that's it (for this post, anyway)
