Damn, I've been horrible about updating this journal. Halloween this year has been a bit of a letdown, since I didn't manage to get home from work until late, and my attempts at cooking naan and a bean curry dish (we've been on an Indian cuisine kick) were constantly interrupted by people trying to break my door down (hmm.. the front light is turned off, and no lights are on in the house... Surely, this means that pounding on the door *really* *really* loudly will result in the door opening and candy being given.. *sigh*) At least I did get a chance to throw on a pirate costume for a halloween party on sat. night.
As usual, there isn't really anything earth-shatteringly new going on in my life. At our martial arts school, the main instructor for mondays and wednesdays just moved out of state, so Jon and I have been teaching the adult intermediate/advanced rank class and the kids advanced class, which keeps us entirely too busy for our own good. Lately, I've been really working on my jump spin kick and several of my favorite weapons.
Becca should be happy about this, but we're almost certainly going to attend the Opus fantasy arts festival in Denver this year, since I finally have enough artwork to try my hand at selling prints, and since the
best fantasy author out there will be the guest of honor. Even though I have no aspirations whatsoever of being a writer, I almost want to attend any workshops run by him.....
I'm also nearing completion on a new art pic.. (of course, since I only get a few hours a week to paint, it still may be many weeks until I have a finished product). I'm never quite sure whether I should post a preview pic, or whether doing so just diminishes any enthusiasm people might have for the finished product.
And, on a final note, my parents are off galivanting in Japan, China, and then Thailand, which makes me seethe with envy.... but then again, maybe Jon and I will make it out to Japan next summer, if he a) gets a job and b) can get sufficient vacation time at that job by next summer.
