Well to follow the craze, I thought I'd transform this account into my training journal. So you'll here nothing about my real life outside of horses here. If you're interested in my actual blog, feel free to stop be
Incognito. I would love to add people, but I will only add those who have an interest in horses.
Anyways, I suppose I should do a brief intro so that you all know who the heck I'm talking about!
First and foremost, Storm. He's a 9 year old American Trakehner gelding standin 17.2hh. While he has been a tremendous learning experience for me, he is now semi retired to doing ponying and trail rides because of an on and off again lameness in his right hind. I'm hoping that he just needs to strengthen it, but I tend to doubt it. He'll be my pampered pasture pet ;)
Arion is next. He is a 2 year old Canadian Sport Horse gelding who was a graduation gift from my parents. This year I'd really like to show him inhand (but I'm such a chicken and don't know what to do!) or at the very least, start ponying him around and getting him used to things.
Costa would finish off my trio. He is my hope and dream ;) He's a pure Holsteiner registered by the German Oldenburg Verband and a candidate for a stud. This year, I hope to show him in some yearing classes and get him exposed as well.
Finally, Limerick. Limerick is not mine, he is a free lease while I wait for my babies to grow up. He is an Irish Sport Horse who tends to favor the draft and had absolutely no training when I got him (which explained my badly broken arm that fractured in 5 places!) He's an EXTREMELY powerful mover and is sometimes a bit hard to get him to carry himself. This year, I'll be taking him into Training Level with the hope of doing some 1st level with him at the end of summer.
And that's the whole story. I am finishing my 2nd year of university in the next week, so riding is a bit in the backseat ;) But I'll be sure to update!
