Zanpakutou

His zanpakutou is Mitsora no Sansai, or Storm and Flood of the Beautiful Sky. In its sealed form, it resembles a traditional kodachi, though there is no guard separating the hilt from the blade. The hilt itself is a deep blue-grey, and the blade is just a touch long for the sword type. The sheath is a stormy shade of grey. He carries it at his right side, tucked into his obi.

To release into shikai state, Rai says, "Break, Mitsora no Sansai!" At this, a wide oval guard forms, and the blade straightens, its sharpened edge becoming serrated. The trained eye would also notice a light film of water covering the blade. Though the sword itself is markedly more dangerous, what opponents should really watch out for is the super-powered electrical charge that Rai can channel through the water-coated blade. This charge can either be used as a projectile, or he can send a jolt through an enemy's nervous system once he's managed to land a physical blow. This jolt can overwhelm the system, rendering at least a portion of the enemy's body useless, at least for a short period of time.
Rai is nowhere near bankai, and never plans to strive for it.

Sword Techniques

Kandenshi Zoukyou (Augmented Electrocution): Mitsora no Sansai's most basic ability. A blast of lightning shoots forth from the blade, supercharged by the film of water on it.

Tate Arashi (Tempest Shield): A dome of scarcely visible electricity surrounds Rai, striking down anything that touches it with a flash of lightning. It's a powerful barrier, but cannot be held for long periods.

Shougehika Kankaku (Sensory Shockwave): When embedded in an enemy's body, Mitsora no Sansai can directly attack the nervous system, either partially or completely shutting it down, depending on the strength of the enemy. The nerve damage results in temporary paralysis.

Kaze Seidenki (Static Electric Wind):  The wind itself, whether natural or generated by Rai's reiatsu, becomes electrically charged, allowing for a wide-radius attack that follows the path of his blade.
