I think Ace Fipke said somewhere that the failure of Cartoon Network to air the second season in the US which is the biggest market is one of the main reasons there's not going to be a third season.
Networks and TV stations fund shows, production companies can't afford to make shows without funding from networks.
When I visited Nerd Corps in August the guy in the office said SH was going to be aired in the US again, hopefully if the second season does well CN will see some sense
I'm kind of pissed off at them now on behalf of Trevor Devall-- all of the main voices from Dragon Booster got roles on Storm Hawks. Matt Hill was Finn, Lenore Zann was Cyclonis, Scott McNeil was Stork, even Kathleen Barr and Lee Tockar got a few roles, although not major ones. It's kind of a slap in the face that he keeps auditioning for them and they never hire him, even though he played a MAJOR character in DB.
Also, I don't know what was going through their minds with the finale. From the very get-go, they knew they were doing 52 episodes. When the show first started back in 2007 I went on Nerd Corp's official website and it said "Cartoon Network has ordered 52 episodes for this series." After what happened with Dragon Booster, I can't believe they were idiotic enough to assume they could get more episodes than what was originally ordered. They should have wrapped everything up and then if they managed to get a renewal they could have opened a new storyline. Ending the series on a cliffhanger is just plain shitty.

I wish more merchandise had been released, sometimes merchandise sales can bring in more than selling the show to channels around the world.
I heard that Firefly got a big screen movie because it did well on DVD, maybe if Storm Hawks does well on DVD they might get DVD movies made?
