Went to Stonehenge today. I know, crazypants. It's effing freezing on that plain. I was not well prepared for the cold.

People kept telling me that Stonehenge wasn't that exciting, that it was just a bunch of rocks in a field. Well, duh. I wasn't expecting a merry-go-round. Wouldn't have gone on it anyway.

I liked Stonehenge though. I'd post pictures but I don't have my camera cable and the person who's camera cable I borrow isn't here. Wait, let me go talk to her roommate. Well, I loaded the photos onto my computer but they won't get on the internet. Le sigh.

In any case, I liked that they were just rocks. I was amazed at the spontaneity of it. They were just there, in between two highways with a bunch of sheep within grazing distance. The sheep excited me. Every time I saw them I unleashed the stupidest, most excited grin. I didn't even intend to release this grin, which must have looked somewhat maniacal, but the sheep (i.e. future wool) were so welcome.

The stones were smaller than I thought they'd be, but I thought they were beautiful. I will never tell anybody not to go there, because I think it's an experience that you make it to be. We had a beautiful day to be there, too. It was cold and windy on the plain, but bright and sunny. The sky was a perfect blue above the stones, which stood as they've stood for centuries. I love the mystery around them. I love that we have no real idea what they were used for, that they were built from stones from thousands of miles away, likely by slave labor. I'm happy I went.

Of course it wouldn't be me if I didn't have some sort of mishap. So, I have a massive head cold right now (It's real bad, last night I was sobbing on my bed I was so miserable. In the past two-three days I have been only been able to breathe through my nose once. I've had two fevers that lasted about three hours, and I kept dreaming about the Shabbat on Thursday night. But I digress.) and this cold necessitates that I bring tissues and a water bottle with me wherever I go. As would be logical, I keep them in my purse. Do you see where this is going? What makes it worse is that although I knew that the top of my bottle was breaking, I still put it in my bag which had my knitting, library book, and iPod in it. Yeah. To make it even more worse was that it was over half full. So I'm walking around Stonehenge when my friend turns to me and says, "Are you leaking?" and sure enough, my purse was dripping. All of my stuff was drenched. The book--1984 is soaked at the top. Over 2/3 of my scarf is saturated. My iPod is fine. It was inside something else woolly. The saddest part, though, was that all of my tissues were soaked. It was toilet paper for the rest of the day. My nose hurts so much.

But Stonehenge and Salisbury were fun, if freezing. It's a cute little town, not a ton to do in an afternoon but we were entertained. Plus, I got to look forward to being several rows behind this gorgeous German guy at my school. Note to self: must ask Mark if he is gay. He looks like Michael Weatherly from Dark Angel with his glasses and spiky hair and all. Unfortunately, he's off limits because I only noticed him because my friend pointed him out because she's in love with him. Oh well, looks like fantasy love from afar for me. Besides, today was not my a game in terms of looks. Combine that head cold--which left me constantly blowing my nose (CONSTANTLY, CRIMENY)--with an infected eye (only a little bloodshot), almost no make-up, acne, and a ghostly pallor and you'll see that today wasn't my day for looks. It's cool though, because in my head I'm effing gorgeous.

Stay cool cats. I have to blow my nose.
