Last month or Two has been a bit busy…
3 Batches of wine done:
15 Gallons of Petite Sirah from Napa
14 Gallons of Zinfandel from Mendocino
5 gallons of Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino.
All from grapes.
The PS might be the best I ever made at this point.
The zin grapes were a mess, pressing them was a chore, but the wine is good.
The cab in very good.
Also got two knew barrels: a 25 gallon and a 10 gallon.
The twenty five gallon barrel has been prepped and I filled it with wine yesterday.
The blend is: 14 gallons zin, 5 gallons PS 5 gallons Cab.
The 10 hasn’t been prepped yet, but it is going to be used for mead. I have 2 10 gallon recipes ready to go. I hope to have one started before the end of November.
My 15 gallon barrel has last years PS/Zin blend in it. Most likely it will be racked out and bottled in January. Followed by it been filled with a large batch of my Elderberry Port Mead.
How did everyone’s wine season go?
