I've had my first orange from California. Yes, we've lived here almost a year, but you have to understand, I don't really like oranges that much.

I would trade anything to have the sensation of eating this orange for the first time again. The first bite of this orange-- early than I planned, I was cutting them up for fruit salad but I couldn't wait, the smell was too good the juice was everywhere I just did it-- was just that good. One of those truly perfect taste moments where suddenly you understand why the human race had bothered evolving taste buds which are, to be honest, by and large a nuisance to us.

Another near perfect thing: the taste of fresh guava and mint leaves.

Hell, the taste of fresh guava.

I love it here. I will never go home. And no one can make me.
