Repeat offender

Had it been an isolated incident, I might not have posted here, but since the person who plagiarized my story is already listed on the profile of this comm as a known plagiarist, it appears to be a pattern. I don't like doing this, but I didn't like reading my story with whole new characters in the roles, either. :(

On April 7th, ilsaluvsrick posted a story ( Read more... )

I want to just offer my shock and betrayal and deepest apologies to all of you.

I have had all of my credibility and all of my work compromised due to this and my sorrow is beyond words.

One very brief factual point for yahtzee63, and this is in no way an excuse, but ilsaluvsrick did in fact repost Easy Does It with many changes, here. Again, that in no way excuses this sort of behavior. I simply want to provide a full record.

And the revised version STILL includes text copied from my original story. UNBELIEVABLE.

Thanks. We'll see. I have the feeling right now that this was meant to happen, as I am currently transitioning into a different phase of my writing life. It may be time to cut the cord with fandom and start really writing. Or it may be time for me to stop being so emotionally attached to it all. Either way, the sun will rise tomorrow.

Well, if you decide to write original fiction that has any supernatural elements to it, we'd love to have you over at tangledetchings. You'd be welcome there.

Good luck to you either way.

You know, that might be a place for me to play with an idea that began in nanowrimo last year. Mind if I drop by and peruse the place?

Feel free! we just opened it a few weeks ago so it's not terribly lively yet, but we hope to start posting some of our stuff there soon, and the more the merrier. :)

I'm sorry you're caught in the middle of all of this. Please know that I'm not demanding any immediate decisions about the Mad Scribbers community. Slowly but surely we'll sort this all out.

OK, just keep in touch with me and I will do whatever I can to accommodate you.

I think you may have already done this, but if not, I'd suggest locking Ilse out of moderator access of mad_scribblers so she can't delete the community, etc. I think there's enough preliminary information to warrant it. And if it would make you more comfortable to do so, feel free to indicate that it was my suggestion.

I hate to ask you this, but do you know if Ilseluvsrick is around? I PMed her a few days ago and I can't figure out if she's decided that this time nothing good can come from responding or if she's away from her LJ.

She is probably around, as she e-mailed me a few minutes before this whole thing broke. Has not e-mailed since. I think she may be still trying to figure out how to respond.

I second what Thuri says. You've handled yourself commendably throughout this whole unfortunate mess, and I honestly feel that you've been hurt worse than any of us who had anything taken. I think you were incredibly noble in your forgiveness--and I think anything you decide to do now will be well within reason, one way or another--but I hope you don't decide this means you shouldn't keep writing on your own merit.

If anything, I have even more respect and admiration for you for trying to give her another chance.

Keep your head held high, know you tried your best, and know we're all thinking of you, okay?

Thanks. I appreciate it. This is what i get for being a bleeding-heart forgiving type, eh?

I know how you feel. Not nearly to the extent you do, of course--not even close--but I forgave her too, and I'm feeling a bit burned.

But again, it doesn't hold a candle to what you went through, and I'm very sorry you had to. Don't stop forgiving, though. Your conscience is clear, at least. *hugs*

i think the point is to look at all of these people who support you and know how wonderful you are. it's nice to see the community working like this, to really rally around you. i feel so sad for you and i konw you'll persevere.
