The Case Against AsaruKatarin
On August 29, 2007, sgatlantislight reported that a person by the name of AsaruKatarin on YouTube had a video titled, Stargate Slash Tribute (Screencap if vid gets pulled.) that included her icon at minute one (the text says, "I always carry a picture of my man."), but she was never asked for permission for its use and is not credited.
When I contacted AsaruKatarin, on September 2, 2007, she said, "I know that most of the icons in my videos are fan made. I originally had a list of all the artist and was going to put them up. Due to circumstances beyond my control the list was deleted from my computer. I have recently been trying to put a disclaimer into my video descriptions but unfortunately my YouTube account is not allowing me to do anything more than message people at the moment. I'm hoping that I will be able to put the disclaimers in soon so as to let people know they are not mine while I search for the artists names once more but it is taking time."
In my reply, I requested that she take down the videos until she could properly credit people. To date, she has not done so. She has since added a disclaimer that the icons are not hers, with is a start. See this reply about having lost list of artists.
However, the video was originally posted September 1, 2006. If you look at the end credits, they give credit to the Backstreet Boys as well as herself, but no credit given to the makers of the icons, manips, and wallpapers. This would mean that if she had a list, she lost it prior to posting these vids, but went ahead and posted them without any note about not having said list. That was over a year ago and she made no progress in fixing the issue.
Due to the lack of any attempt to given credit prior to the point of having the issue brought to her attention, I find the claim that she did have a list, lost said list, and is actively trying to recreate said list not credible. Particularly given that in the last month plus I have seen nothing added to suggest a genuine attempt to recreate a list of people to credit.
In the process of working on this case, community members have identified the following art as taken from the following artists:

One person, MizzHope, posted a year ago in the comments that she pleased to see two of her manips used in the video. However, there were two persons who have been identified who did not give their permission and are not credited, Uglybusiness and BlackGoddess.

There are other vids of hers that are of a similar style and to which she has added a similar disclaimer that she knows the art is not hers and that she's working on a list. This includes:
Stargate Heroins[sic], which includes the women of both SG-1 and SGA.
At 0:57 minute, a picture of Janet. I can't seem to find in my notes whose icon this is, but I'm mostly sure it was identified, so I'll leave this in in hopes someone can help me ID it again.

stargate: a jack and daniel slideshow.

Given the information at hand, while I appreciate the disclaimer that the icons are not hers, it is not sufficient to resolve the matter of plagiarism. I will be adding AsaruKatarin to the list of known plagiarist and reporting her to YouTube. If additional creators of icons are identified, I will be happy to add them to the list.
